Basser Center for BRCA

BRCA1/2 Research and Clinical Trials

Susan M. Domchek, MD

"The Basser Center is an example of how we go from the bench to the bedside. We take this knowledge of the genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2, and give people information to act upon. It's also a key example of what we call bedside to bench: We listen to what patients are telling us about their concerns and what they need to know, and we do research to answer those questions for patients."
- Susan M. Domchek, MD

The goal of the Basser Center for BRCA is to learn from today's patients and better understand BRCA mutations. This ongoing research will impact care for generations of BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers to come.

Patient participation in research studies led to the initial discovery of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 as well as the development of better strategies for managing cancer risks and ultimately treating cancers.

The Basser Center aims to deliver cutting edge research in basic and clinical sciences to advance the care of individuals carrying BRCA mutations.

Clinical Trials and Cutting Edge Therapies

Some of our studies are clinical trials that test novel therapies or interventions. Other studies are observational and individuals can often participate from afar.

The Basser Center funds a wide range of studies- from the research laboratory to the patient's bedside.
