Leukemia Treatment Among "Best of 2011"

Research led by Carl June, MD, a professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and director of Translational Research in the Abramson Cancer Center, was named to Esquire magazine's "Best of 2011" list. The editors called his team's work genetically modifying the T-cells of three patients with advanced lymphocytic leukemia -- which rendered two patients cancer-free more than one year after treatment, and put a third in a partial remission -- one of the year's "bright and heroic moments."
