Penn Medicine Celebrates the Basser Research Center for BRCA

October 9, 2012

6ABC reports on Penn Medicine's celebration of the new Basser Research Center for BRCA, a first-of-its-kind center focusing on the treatment and prevention of cancers associated with the inherited BRCA gene mutations. Women who carry these genetic mutations have a greatly increased risk of developing breast, ovarian and other cancers during their lives. Penn alumni Jon and Mindy Gray’s $25 million gift creates a path for close collaboration between researchers and clinicians who are working to find new ways to prevent these cancers, detect them early when they occur, and treat them in new, more effective ways.
