New Hope for Melanoma Patients

February 27, 2013

Lynn Schuchter, MD, chief of the Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Abramson Cancer Center, was featured in several CBS3 articles about melanoma. Also interviewed in one of the segments was HUP’s Environmental Services Operations Manager and melanoma survivor Christine Racobaldo, who was diagnosed with the disease as a high schooler and is a longtime patient of Schuchter. “I’ve been treating patients for 25 years, and we’ve never seen these types of exciting results,” Schuchter said of recent advances in metastatic melanoma treatment. “We’ve seen patients’ lives extended, we’ve seen patients come off pain medication within three days of starting these medications -- so really dramatic, meaningful results.” A web extra of Schuchter discussing melanoma risk factors, signs and symptoms accompanies the pieces.
